About
the Band
Broken Lane is an Acoustic Rock'n'Roll band that makes their home
in Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange counties. The band was originally
formed in 2004 by Josh and Law who attended high school together
and had formerly been singing in an a-capella group for the past
two years. After growing tired of "just singing", they
decided to start a Rock 'n' Roll band. The original band was un-named
and consisted of seven members including Josh, Law and Juzz. As
time passed, changes were made, members were cut from the band,
left for other groups and added to the band. By the end of 2005,
only Law, Josh and Juzz remained. The trio tried several bassists
out for the band but none really stuck until they broke Law's
biggest rule about the band: "No Girls Allowed!"...
Mel originally joined the band for a battle of the bands competition
as a one time fill-in for their bassist at the time. Thing is...
She was better than the other bassist in every way. The battle
passed, Broken Lane won and Mel went on her own way. Eventually,
the guys were back to three members. They all knew exactly who
they wanted in the band. When Mel officially joined Broken Lane,
she broke a curse that the guys feared they'd never be rid of.
What you see below are now four of the closest friends you'll
ever get a chance to meet and we invite you to join our journey
along the Broken Lane.

Name: Juzz
Instruments: Drum Set, quena, djembe, duduc,
voice
Instead of ridalin, someone gave ten year old Juzz drumsticks
and he's played the world ever since. Along with his unique
busy style on the drum set, mild ADD granted Broken Lane's
drummer an original and skillful approach to hand percussion
and tribal flutes. Having spent his life learning to play
tables, cabinets and unfortunate karaoke judges, Juzz has
developed a distaste for the 'usual' way of things. 'Proper'
isn't in the young spiritualist's vocabulary, nor in his writing
style. Juzz adds a playfulness to the band's sound in his
drumming and a brimming spirituality through his writing. |

Name: Law
Instruments: Piano/keys, guitar, harmonica,
mandolin, organ, drums, bass, voice
Law's larger than life, unstoppable attitude blasts through
his writing in a seemingly contradictory subtlety. A trained
Jazz pianish; he's a future mastermind within his generation,
boasting skill with several instruments. His core philosophy
is one without limitation, without inhibition. He set's the
foundation for the band's Fervor and raw grit with the addition
of his unusual guitar rythms, jazz piano and passionate vocals. |
 |
Name: Josh
Instruments: Guitar, harmonica, didgeridoo, vocals
Josh sang his first words, laughs in harmony and snores chords...
Seriously... He leapt from honor choir to honor choir growing
up. When his middle school told him they had no choir, he
rode his bike four miles in fifteen minutes everyday to a
school that did. That school happily made an exception in
their cohir's enrollment for his voice. Later, after several
flaky singing groups, Josh dropped the a-capella gig, picked
up a guitar and started writing. Broken Lane's dreamy loftiness
rolls from Josh's corner, a welcome addition to Law's epic
style of writing.

Name: Mel
Instruments: Bass, guitar, voice
Mel forsook dresses the day they nrearly inhibited her dishing
of a well deserved schoolyard whoopin'. Fromt hen on, she
was one of the guys. She turned a cold shoulder to ballet
and dolls and instead picked up soccer and the guitar. Instead
of the cheer squad, she joined the drum-line. Music turned
from a life long hobby to life itself on the night after her
first show with Broken Lane. The boys readily accepted her
calm collected bass into their sound. Now, she fuels the band's
cool and offers sweetness to their sound in both her vocals
and writing. |
